Icomera introduces 5G-enabled X5 gateway for railway applications

Public transport Wi-Fi service provider Icomera, part of Engie, said it has introduced its 5G-enabled X5 Mobile Connectivity and Applications Gateway designed for rail applications. It said the gateway houses up to four "powerful" 5G-enabled radio modems. In onboard trials, the X5 achieved industry record-breaking throughput, surpassing the benchmark referred to in the sector as "the Gigabit Train", it said.
