ICT ministry says CAT-True deals are illegal
Thailand's Information and Communication Technology Ministry has said the 3G contracts between CAT and True are "definitely illegal". The ministry's investigative committee reached the conclusion after scrutinising the deals, The Bangkok Post writes. In January last year, state-owned communications firm CAT Telecom signed a number of 3G wholesale and resale contracts with communications group True, which attracted scrutiny from a number of government agencies. True chief executive Suphachai Chearavanont said he was not concerned by the ministry's report, as the case will have to end up in court and the trial could take many years. However, True is willing to adjust the contract and comply with any of the committee's requirements.
