IDC slashes global IT spending forecast on coronavirus impact

Worldwide IT spending is set to fall 2.7 percent in constant currency terms this year compared to a 4.8 percent growth in 2019 due to the impact of the covid-19 outbreak on the global economy, according to revised data from the International Data Corporation (IDC). In January the researcher predicted a 5.1 percent rise this year, cutting it to 4.3 percent in February and now to -2.7 percent as companies and governments around the world respond to the epidemic with contingency planning and spending cuts in the short term.
