iDeal tops 1 billion transactions

Tuesday 10 May 2016 | 11:03 CET | News
The Dutch online payments platform iDeal has passed 1 billion transactions, the Netherlands Payments Association announced. The service was first started in 2005, allowing consumers to use their online banking accounts to pay for purchases. iDeal was estimated to account for 56 percent of online payments in the Netherlands last year, and the total number of payments on the platform rose by almost a quarter. iDeal is also increasingly available on foreign websites, with one in five transactions occurring outside the Netherlands.
