IFT grants Telmex 30-year extension to public concession

Mexico's telecom regulator IFT has agreed to extend the validity of Telmex's concession to build, install, maintain, operate and exploit a public telephony network. In a statement to the Mexican bourse, America Movil's unit said its concession licence had been extended for another 30 years starting from 11 March 2026. The company recently announced a gradual reduction in its fixed to mobile calls rate, from MXN 0.47 per minute on 01 December to MXN 0.40 per minute in 2017 and MXN 0.34 in 2018.
