IHS Towers expands in Brazil and Colombia with Centennial Towers acquisition

IHS Towers has further expanded its Latin American telecommunications infrastructure portfolio with the acquisition of Centennial Towers’ Brazilian and Colombian tower operations for an undisclosed sum. The purchase brings an additional 602 towers in Brazil and 217 towers in Colombia as well as Centennial Towers’ extensive expertise in providing mobile network operators with a wide range of infrastructure solutions including build to suit towers, rooftops, Distributed Antenna Systems, small cells plus site colocation and leasing, said IHS.

The transaction comes shortly after IHS Towers acquired Skysites in Brazil to add around 1,000 sites to its portfolio and ensure it remains well placed to support the upcoming rollout of 5G and accelerated fibre deployment. IHS now has over 29,700 towers across nine markets (Brazil, Cameroon, Colombia, Cote d’Ivoire, Kuwait, Nigeria, Peru, Rwanda and Zambia).

Telecommunications infrastructure company IHS Towers reported revenue of USD 400.5 million in the third quarter of 2021, up 8.7 percent on the year-earlier result of USD 368.3 million thanks in part to retrospective currency-related amendments to contracts with MTN Nigeria. IHS Holding said it has commenced its initial public offering (IPO) of 22.50 million ordinary shares, 18.0 million of which are being offered by IHS Towers and 4.50 million by certain other shareholders. The underwriters have a 30-day option to purchase up to 2.70 million more shares from IHS Towers and 675,000 ordinary shares from the selling shareholders at the IPO price, currently estimated at between USD 21.00 and USD 24.00 per share.

IHS Towers files for IPO on New York Stock Exchange

IHS Holding has filed a registration statement with the US Securities and Exchange Commission relating to a potential IPO on the New York Stock Exchange. In a statement, IHS Towers said the timing, number of shares to be offered and price range of the proposed offering have not yet been determined. The launch of the offering is subject to the necessary regulatory approvals, governance approvals and conducive market conditions.

IHS Towers acquires 1,000-site Skysites business in Brazil

IHS Holding has completed the acquisition of Skysites Holdings, a specialist provider of small cells and urban telecommunications infrastructure in Brazil. Skysites' operations comprise approximately 1,000 sites, along with exclusive access to tens of thousands of premium real estate locations in urban settings. These will be fully integrated into IHS Towers' Brazilian operations over the coming months.

IHS Holding (IHS) appointed Ursula Burns to its board of directors, effective July. Burns, most recently CEO of Veon until March this year and Chair until 1 June, joined the IHS board as a non-executive independent director on 1 July.

Telecoms tower company IHS has hired banks to oversee what may be the biggest initial public offering (IPO) of an African company in the US, Bloomberg reported citing sources with knowledge of the matter. IHS has selected Citigroup and JPMorgan Chase as global coordinators for a listing that could value the company at as much as USD 7 billion, said the people.

IHS Towers acquires Brazil's Cell Site Solutions for undisclosed sum

IHS Holding Limited (IHS) has signed an agreement to purchase Brazil's Cell Site Solutions (CSS) from affiliates of Goldman Sachs and Centaurus Capital LP. IHS will acquire 100 percent of CSS and it will be fully integrated into IHS. The purchase price was not revealed and the deal is subject to all the necessary regulatory approvals.

IHS plans up to 30,000 sites in Saudi Arabia

Telecoms tower company IHS plans to operate up to 30,000 masts in Saudi Arabia within the next five years, Arab News reported. IHS said in March it had struck a deal with Zain KSA to buy its 8,100 towers in the country. It will then lease them back to the operator.
