IIJ, Aeon launch Huawei phones in Japan following US ban relaxation

Thursday 4 July 2019 | 09:01 CET | News
Huawei smartphones are back on sale in Japan, after Internet Initiative Japan (IIJ) and Aeon started selling new devices from Huawei on 2 July, Nikkei reports. IIJ delayed the P30 and P30 Lite smartphones, as well as the MediaPad M5 Lite 8-inch tablet, over fears stemming from the US ban amid the trade war. According to an unnamed IIJ spokesperson, the "comprehensive" decision-making process behind this move followed talks with manufacturers as well as US president Donald Trump's recent comments.
