Iliad asks French supreme court to invalidate data collection under telecom law - report

Monday 8 March 2021 | 11:30 CET | News
Iliad has brought to France's supreme court (Conseil d'Etat) a legal case against an article of the Post and Telecommunications Code that enforces data collection on operators, according to information gathered by Next Inpact. This legal action centres on the application of the EU Data Retention Directive, which dictates how member states can store citizens' telecommunications data. Iliad is reportedly asking the French supreme court to invalidate article 34-1, which imposes blanket data collection motivated by the "investigation, detection and prosecution of criminal offences".
