Imec develops low-energy radar chip for in-building detection

Tuesday 5 March 2019 | 13:10 CET | News
The Flemish research institute Imec announced the development of a new radar chip designed to make it easier to detect and locate people in buildings. Developed at its lab in Eindhoven, Netherlands, the new 8GHz sensor uses very little energy (less than 1mW), at up to 100x less than comparable products, Imec said. The device can also detect micro movements, such as breathing, within a distance of 15m.
