India launches Chennai-Andaman-Nicobar Islands submarine fiber optic cable system

India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated India's first undersea optical cable fibre project Chennai-Andaman and Nicobar Islands (CANI). Back in December 2018, the Prime Minister laid the foundation for the 2,312 km long submarine optical fibre cable project connecting CANI, reports India Today. Overall investments in the project reaches INR 12.24 billion, writes news agency PTI.
