India mobile phone shipments to hit 262 mln units by end-2017

Feature phones continued to dominate the Indian mobile handset market in the third quarter of this year, accounting for 53 percent of the overall market, according to a report from CMR. Mobile handset vendors shipped 80 million mobile handset units in the third quarter of 2017. The report further shows that, on the smartphone market, Xiaomi leveled with Samsung at the top of the leaderboard for the first time, fueled by an 84 percent growth. Mobile handset shipments are expected to reach 262 million units by the end of the fourth quarter of 2017.
