India smartphone shipments drop for the first time ever in Q2

The Indian smartphone market declined for the first time in its history, as shipments to the country decreased by 4 percent year-on-year to around 27 million units in the second quarter of 2017, according to a report from Canalys. The report further indicates that Samsung continues to lead the market, with a 25 percent share, followed by Xiaomi, which more than quadrupled its shipments to 4.8 million units in the second quarter.
