India tech spend in 100 smart cities to hit USD 2 bln

The overall investments required to build 100 smart cities in India will reach USD 31 billion over 5 years in the period between 2015 and 2020. Over 5 percent of the total spend, or USD 1.5- 2 billion would be on technology, according to a report from management consulting firm Zinnov. Nearly 50 percent of technology investments would be on cloud services spread across setup of private data centers, cloud-based delivery platforms, analytics, and IoT-enabled service.
