India to start detailed investigation into WhatsApp privacy policy

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has ordered a detailed probe into WhatsApp's new privacy policy and terms of services. The Commission claims WhatsApp infringed the Indian competition law through its exploitative and exclusionary conduct with its policy update. According to the CCI, "a thorough and detailed investigation is required to ascertain the full extent, scope and impact of data sharing through involuntary consent of users".
