India's BSNL bans foreign manufacturers from 4G network equipment tender - report

Indian state-owned operator BSNL has excluded any foreign vendors from its 4G core network tender, inviting applications exclusively from Indian manufacturers, Light Reading reports. BSNL plans to deploy around 57,000 4G sites across India. According to BSNL's expression of interest (EoI), the core of the network must be provided by from an Indian supplier, while an Indian company should ideally own the intellectual property for the source code used in that network.
