Industry minister supports Telefonica's stance in FTTH row

Spain's industry minister Jose Manuel Soria appears to have sided with Telefonica in its conflict with Spain's communications regulator CNMC over the proposal to open up Telefonica's fibre network to rival operators. Telefonica last month responded to the regulator's proposal that it be required to provide wholesale access to its fibre network in all of Spain apart from nine cities by warning that it would have the opposite of the intended effect, prompting operators to alter major investment plans.
