Inmarsat takeover faces national security review by UK goverment

The UK government has ordered a national security review of the proposed USD 3.4 billion takeover of satellite communications operator Inmarsat by a consortium of investment funds. A merger inquiry into the deal, announced in March, was launched last week by the Competition and Markets Authority, which will also lead the security probe, and the deadline for its initial report was extended by a week to 17 September.
