Intel completes USD 1 bln disposal of smartphone modem ops to Apple

Intel said it has completed the sale of most of its smartphone modem business to Apple. The deal, valued at USD 1 billion, was announced this summer. With the disposal, Intel reiterated it will be able to focus on developing technology for 5G networks while retaining the option to develop modems for non-smartphone applications, such as PCs, internet of things devices and autonomous vehicles.
