Intel guides down for FY after slower but in-line Q1

Intel reported higher-than-expected profit figures in the first quarter, on revenues within guidance. The quarter nevertheless showed a slowdown, with revenues flat year-on-year at USD 16.1 billion and EPS off 6 percent to USD 0.87. The company said it sees an even slower second quarter, guiding for revenues of USD 15.6 billion and EPS at USD 0.83. The company recently announced plans to exit the smartphone modem business, saying it has been unable to get positive returns. The company is now reviewing its modems in PCs and IoT device segments.
