Intel is planning to divest a majority stake in its augmented reality business, which is aiming to launch consumer smart glasses as early as this year, according to unnamed sources cited by Bloomberg. The spun off company, probably called Vaunt and valued at up to USD 350 million, is working on smart glasses known internally as "Superlite" to be manufactured by Taiwan's Quanta Computer. The glasses will connect to smartphones via Bluetooth and display information in the wearer's field of view via a laser projector, said the report.
