Intelsat, Skynet to connect rural Colombian communities

Intelsat has announced an agreement with Colombian ISP provider Skynet, a subsidiary of ETB (Empresa de Telecomunicaciones de Bogota), to bring broadband and internet connectivity to around 600 remote sites, across 250 municipalities, under the Vive Digital plan of ICT ministry Mintic. Under the terms of the multi-year deal, Skynet will take advantage of the high-speed performance of the Intelsat 29e satellite to deliver internet access as well as programmes that promote the use of technologies in the community.
