Internet Association calls for national data protection rules in US

The Internet Association, a group representing more than 40 major internet and technology firms including Netflix, Microsoft and Twitter, has called for the US to implement a new national data protection policy. The group hopes to pre-empt each state implementing its own rules, after California passed privacy legislation in June, Reuters reports.
