Internet Society warns of 'splinternet' after US steps up Clean Network programme

The Internet Society has warned the world may be moving towards a 'splinternet', after the US government stepped up its 'Clean Network' programme to prevent Chinese influence in telecom networks. The non-profit group said the US move is part of a larger trend of governments interfering with the internet "to score short-term political points without regard to the long-term damage that results".
