Intex launches first Firefox phone in India
Mozilla has brought its Firefox mobile operating system to India with the launch of the Cloud FX smartphone by Intex Technologies. The phone will be available exclusively on the site Snapdeal.com in a choice of black or white for INR 1,999. 

The Intex Cloud FX is equipped with Firefox OS, a 1.0 GHz processor and expandable memory of up to 4GB. It features dual-SIM capabilities, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi for connectivity, and built-in functionality for users to monitor and control their data usage. Several languages are supported on the phone, including Hindi and Tamil. This is the first Firefox available in Asia.

Feature phone maker Jivi has launched its first smartphone, powered by the Android OS. The handset is available for INR 1,999, and the company claims it is the cheapest Android-based smartphone available in India. Jivi plans to sell 200,000 smartphone units. "We want to make available a good quality smartphone at an extremely affordable price, we are doing this on very thin margins," Jivi Mobiles CEO Pankaj Anand told PTI.

Bangladeshi mobile operator Grameenphone has launched the GoFox F15 Firefox phone on the local market. The handset is available for under USD 60. This marks the first joint release of Mozilla's low-cost, open web smartphones by a mobile operator in Asia. The GoFox F15 is developed by Bangladeshi mobile phone brand Symphony.

Intex to launch three Firefox smartphones within one year

Indian handset maker Intex Technologies expects to launch three smartphones with Firefox OS within the next year, The Economic Times reports. One of these three smartphones will be compatible with 3G technology, according to the report. On August 25, the smartphone maker launched the Cloud FX device, which is equipped with Firefox OS, a 1.0 GHz processor and expandable memory of up to 4GB. It features dual-SIM capabilities, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
