Investigatory Powers Bill passes House of Lords

The Investigatory Powers Bill (IP Bill) has been passed by the House of Lords and is expected to become law within the next few weeks. The move came under heavy criticism from the Open Rights Group, with executive director Jim Killock saying its impact would be felt in the UK and beyond. "It is likely that other countries, including authoritarian regimes with poor human rights records, will use this law to justify their own intrusive surveillance powers," Killock said.
