Inwit shareholders back Vodafone towers merger

Friday 20 December 2019 | 09:18 CET | News
The shareholders of Telecom Italia's tower unit Infrastrutture Wireless Italiane (Inwit) almost unanimously approved a plan to merge with Vodafone Italia's tower unit at an extraordinary meeting chaired by Piergiorgio Peluso. Earlier this year TIM and Vodafone announced that they had agreed to merge their Italian mobile infrastructure under the Inwit unit that is 60 percent-owned by Telecom Italia as well as jointly rolling out 5G networks. The deal is awaiting European Union antitrust approval but is expected to close in the first half of 2020, said Inwit's CEO Giovanni Ferigo last month.
