IOC to develop OTT channel with Discovery

The International Olympic Committee is working with Discovery to develop its own OTT channel and platform, IOC member Camiel Eurlings told Dutch paper NRC Next. Eurlings is head of the IOC's communications committee. To develop its own free Olympic Channel, the IOC is using the on-demand service from Discovery and its sports channel Eurosport. Eurosport acquired last year the broadcast rights to the Olympics in Europe for the period 2018 to 2024. Eurlings said the IOC will spend over USD 500 million in the next 5-7 years developing its online channel and platforms. The financing will come
