IoT security spend to reach USD 547 mln by 2018 - study

Global spending on Internet of Things (IoT) security will grow by 23.7 percent to USD 348 million in 2016 before reaching USD 547 million in 2018, according to a report by Gartner. However, the full potential of IoT won't be fully realised without cloud-based security services that deliver an acceptable level of operation for many organisations in a cost-effective manner, said the report. As a result, by 2020 Gartner predicts that over half of all IoT implementations will use some form of cloud-based security service.
