Irish govt rejects Eir proposal for rural broadband network

The Irish government has rejected Eir's proposal to contribute to the National Broadband Plan and said it will go ahead with finalising a deal with the preferred bidder named in May for the contract. Communications minister Richard Bruton made the announcement in an update on the government's plans.
