IslaLink and Elettra to build 'Ionian' subsea cable between Greece and Italy

Spain-based submarine cable specialist IslaLink and the Orange group's Italian marine network subsidiary Elettra have announced financial backing from Fiera Infrastructure for the 'Ionian' submarine cable system connecting Italy and Greece. The infrastructure will connect Crotone in Italy with Preveza in Greece and be complemented by two terrestrial fibre rings connecting the system to the cities of Milan and Rome in Italy and Athens and Thessaloniki in Greece, said the partners.
