Italian consumers given free choice of router in broadband contracts

Thursday 2 August 2018 | 10:03 CET | News
Italian communications regulator Agcom has announced new rules allowing consumers to select the router or modem of their choice when signing up to a fixed broadband contract. Following a public consultation, the watchdog said it's amending the rules to comply with EU regulation on open internet access to ensure subscribers wanting to use an alternative device to the one provided by the operator won't have to pay a surcharge, in line with articles 70 and 71 of the proposed Electronic Communications Code.
