Italian court rejects TIM request to freeze 116 million euro fine

The Regional Administrative Court of Lazio, the main Italian administrative court of first instance, has dismissed a request by Telecom Italia (TIM) to suspend a fine imposed by antitrust watchdog AGCM for abusing its dominant position in the fibre-optic broadband market. In a decision issued nearly 3 years after the investigation was launched, TIM was fined EUR 116 million for carrying out a "premeditated anti-competition strategy" to preserve its dominant position and hinder rival investments in ultra-fast broadband.
