Italian govt wants broadband plan to cover industry

Monday 18 July 2016 | 09:48 CET | News
Italy will review its plan to build a national high-speed broadband network in digital divide areas in order to include industrial zones, industry minister Carlo Calenda said. The remapping of so-called white zones to cover factories will be included within the government's Industry 4.0 industrial relaunch plan to be unveiled on 5 August, Corriere delle Communicazioni reported. Calenda, who was appointed in May, said he called for the review in order to reflect the importance of 'fibre to the factory' in reviving Italy's industrial competitivity.
