Italian senate approves return to 30-day bills

Wednesday 15 November 2017 | 14:23 CET | News
The budgetary committee of Italy's senate has approved an amendment to a tax decree requesting a ban on 28-day bills for telephony, pay-TV and internet services. The amendment was tabled by the ruling Democratic Party (PD) with a view to banning recent moves by operators to charge customers on a 28-day rather than on a monthly basis. Under the provisions of the amendment, operators now face fines of up to EUR 5 million for flouting the rules, as well as the need to pay a lump sum compensation of no less than EUR 50 for each user affected by the illegal billing practice in the future.
