Italy antitrust body in favour of opening up network to all

Italy's antitrust and competition authority has announced that it favours opening up the country's new fixed broadband network to all operators with a view to avoiding positions of competitive advantage. Asked by the government to provide an opinion on its recently-announced Strategy for Italian Broadband and Digital Growth 2014-20, the antitrust watchdog said the consortium plan favoured by operators such as Vodafone was the only way forward, since any other option would raise EC concerns. The plan would require the creation of a company "in which a number of operators would participate in
