Italy fibre strategy unaffected by political crisis – Enel

The chief executive of Italian utility giant Enel has stressed that the recent political crisis would not affect the government's high-speed broadband strategy or his own company's plans to roll out a wholesale fibre network. "Nothing changes. Italy continues to require data transmission capacity... We do not foresee a big change," said Enel CEO Francesco Starace on the sidelines of a conference, according to Reuters. Starace's confirmation follows that of Telecom Italia chairman Giuseppe Recchi and undersecretary for economic development in charge of telecommunications Antonello Giacomelli,
