Italy fines Facebook EUR 1 mln for Cambridge Analytica data leak

Italy's data protection authority, Garante Privacy, has fined Facebook a total of EUR 1 million for alleged breaches of the country's consumer code in the Cambridge Analytica scandal. Although only 57 Italians actually downloaded the 'This Is Your Digital Life' app, the company subsequently harvested data from a total of 214,077 Italian users without their consent, said the regulator.
