Monday 25 October 2021 | 10:07 CET | News
The Italian government is putting the final touches on an offer designed to persuade Intel to build an advanced chipmaking plant in Italy, according to unnamed sources cited by Reuters. The US giant could be prepared to invest more than EUR 4 billion in the plant, with one source indicating that the total could even reach around EUR 8 billion. Intel's megafactory could create more than 1,000 direct jobs, said the sources, adding that Rome is ready to fund part of the investment with public money and offer favourable terms on labour and energy costs.
