Italy preparing to introduce 3% 'web tax' - report

Tuesday 15 October 2019 | 08:54 CET | News
Italy is set to introduce a new tax on digital companies in its 2020 budget, according to two sources from the coalition government of prime minister Giuseppe Conte cited by Reuters. The plan is for multinational web-based giants to pay a 3 percent levy on internet transactions with a view to raising around EUR 600 million a year, and will apply to companies with annual global revenues of at least EUR 750 million and digital services topping EUR 5.5 million in Italy, said the sources.
