Italy's CDP could invest in Telecom Italia if asked to do so - chairman

Italian state lender Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP) is prepared to invest in Telecom Italia (TIM) if asked to do so by the government, according to its chairman Claudio Costamagna. With the government preparing to apply the so-called 'golden power' rule of 2012 to curb the growing influence of France's Vivendi over TIM, there have been rumours that CDP may be asked to acquire a stake in TIM to protect strategic interests. "If the government asked us to enter Telecom by exercising the golden power, we would look at it to see if it was advantageous or not," he said during a TV interview,
