Italy's Enel signs binding agreements to buy Metroweb

Italian utility giant Enel has announced the signing of the binding accords for the acquisition of Metroweb, the Milan-based broadband provider it agreed to buy in July. Enel said Metroweb will be integrated with its wholesale broadband subsidiary Enel Open Fiber (EOF) but it will hold a 50 percent stake in the entity with state lender CDPE (Cassa Depositi e Prestiti Equity). The provision also remains for Enel and CDPE to grant an option to Metroweb's other major shareholder, F2i, to reinvest in the NewCo through the acquisition from Enel and CDPE of a stake of up to 30 percent of the
