Italy's Eva Spina elected vice chair of ITU council

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has announced the appointment of Italy's Eva Spina as the new vice chair of its council. Spina is currently director of spectrum management planning for the communications area at Italy's Ministry of Economic Development (MISE). Spina's appointment means that two women are leading the ITU's council for the first time after Julie Zoller, senior deputy coordinator for international information communications and information policy at the US State Department, took the reins as chair.
