Italy's Serie A relaunches football rights auction

Italy's top-tier Serie A football league has approved a new tender for domestic TV rights to air live matches for the 2018-2021 period following a meeting of the country's top 20 clubs in Milan. Bids for the three season rights are due by 22 January with the minimum price for the packages set at EUR 1.05 billion, reports Il Sole 24 Ore. The league decided to cancel the first tender in June after commercial broadcaster Mediaset made no offer, leaving Sky as the only major bidder. Mediaset took exception to the structure of the sales process and even filed a complaint with Italy's antitrust
