ITU announces annual award for development through ICT

ITU announced its 'ICTs in sustainable development award' recognising leadership in sustainable development through ICTs at a special ceremony held at UN Headquarters, New York on 26 September. The award officially recognised nine heads of state or government for their efforts to improve access to ICT networks and services. The award re-affirms ITU's commitment to enabling development through ICTs. Recipients of the prestigious award included prime minsters or presidents from Bangladesh, Fiji, the Gabonese Republic, Kenya, Malaysia, Rwanda, Thailand, the Eastern Republic of Uruguay and
