ITU sends telecoms equipment to Dominica after Erika storm

Following the severe landslides and flooding caused by the tropical storm Erika in Dominica, the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) has sent emergency telecommunication equipment including satellite phones, broadband global area networks, solar chargers, laptops and accessories to support relief and coordination efforts. The government of Dominica has declared nine special disaster areas in the districts of Petite Savanne, Pichelin, Good Hope, Bath Estate (Paradise Valley), Dubique, Campbell, Coulibistrie, San Sauveur and Petite Soufriere.
