Jamaica's Caricel to take legal action over licence award

Friday 6 January 2017 | 09:34 CET | News
Jamaica's Symbiote Investments, the holding company for the Caricel brand, has taken the country's Spectrum Management Authority (SMA) to court in an attempt to secure the mobile operating concession it was awarded back in September 2016, reports the Jamaica Gleaner. Although Prime Minister Andrew Holness announced that his administration had finally decided to grant the country's third mobile licence to Symbiote, the government has yet to award the licence over the SMA's concerns about national security, prompting a court action that began on 05 January.
