Japan Display drops dividend, downgrades outlook on sluggish smartphone market

Thursday 14 February 2019 | 14:08 CET | News
Japan Display (JDI) said it expects to report a loss for its fiscal year to March and will not pay a dividend, due to the slowdown in the smartphone market in the past quarter. Compared to its forecast in November for 5-15 percent annual sales growth and an operating margin of 1-2 percent, the display maker now expects revenues for the year down 10 percent and an operating loss of over JPY 20 billion. It will be "difficult" to achieve a net profit for the year, JDI said.
