Japan, US, Australia to invest in USD 30 mln Palau undersea fiber optic cable

Japan, the US and Australia have announced plans to jointly finance a USD 30 million project for an undersea fiber optic cable in Palau. The project is expected to upgrade Palau's digital connectivity and boost its business environment to attract new investment, The Japan Times reports, citing Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi. The statement was made during a video conference with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Australian counterpart Marise Payne.
