Japanese engineers achieve record data transmission speeds of 319 Tbps

Japanese engineers broke the world record for the highest internet speed, achieving a data transfer speed of 319 Tbps, according to a study presented at the International Conference on Fiber Optic Communication in June. The new record was set on a fibre cable that stretched over 3,000 kilometres, and it is compatible existing cable infrastructure.
