Japan's smartphone market expected to struggle in 2020

Japan's smartphone market is expected to struggle in 2020, following a 10.9 percent year-on-year fall in shipments in 2019 compared with 2018, according to data from Canalys. Developments like new regulations and subscription pricing have had a huge impact on the market players. The company also said the hope that 5G technology will stimulate the market also seems far-fetched, and the postponement of the 2020 Summer Olympics will further hit the market.
